Arequipa was reached after a pretty uncomfortable bus journey. Fortunately we got there in time for breakfast in the garden of the hotel we'd picked from the guidebook. This city is quite well off and more touristy than anywhere so far. We found the people in the tourist parts were not as open as those which were not so exposed to gringos.

After only a quick two days and a night in Arequipa we got the night bus to Chivay which is at the beginning of the spectacular Colca Canyon.
