Police stuck in the mud...

...landy to the rescue...

...happy cops

Monday 22 October - Tuesday 6 November

We finally managed to leave DF and headed off towards Puerto Escondido for some much needed sun and surf. Passing through the desert landscape we stopped in Acatlan. Inspired by the blue domes of the local church, we bought some matching paint to finally change the wicked but military appearance of its matt sand infra-red reflective paint job to a more FARC (Colombian rebel fighters) friendly colour. In the evening we were searching for a campsite down a forest track in a thunderstorm when we came across a police truck stuck in the mud. They were extremely relieved to see us to say the least. The landy pulled them out with no trouble but they forgot to give us a 'get out of jail free' card.

Caio and us

In Puerto Escondido we met our first fellow wicked traveller, a Brazilian named Caio who's driven up for surfing but got stuck here for a few months and is now looking for someone to buy his truck so he can get home. The landy was successfully spray painted in Puerto Escondido and we had time for some maintenance, an oil change for T, and the landy too while B got his filter unblocked. Let us know what you think of the new colour scheme on our message board here.

The first few days here there wasn't much in the way of waves, but thanks to Hurricane Michelle which flattened Honduras and Nicaragua, they picked up enough for us realize that great surfers weren't born, they had to work at it. B got his dings fixed by Miguel for 100 pesos. Puerto Escondido is a wicked place to chill out but we have to move on to meet Ali and his landy in Belize by the end of the month.
