El Cafecito and the campsite between

Another deserted beach

The result of wicked surfing?

Wednesday 7 - Tuesday 13 November

Puerto Escondido continues to exert its pull on us, its a hard place to leave. We've made many friends, worked on the landy and progressed slightly with our surfing despite the shallow water and huge waves that slam us into the sandy bottom. On Sunday we watched Mexico play Honduras for world cup qualification in a restaurant and got free shots of mezcal, an awful petrol-like drink. Unfortunately Mexico won so we had to drink another round!

A La Casa...

...the owner, Bob, checks out the landy

Lots of time to play pool...

...or chain small children to the landy

Our usual haunts in Escondido are "El Cafecito", which is conveniently located at our campsite entrance, and "A La Casa", run by a canadian and has a relatively flat pool table and nice staff, both important wicked traveller forms of entertainment.

Both blue, both slow but only one is a landy

No hiding with that colour

We finally managed to leave on Tuesday, once Bs board had been stuck back together again, and headed off towards Chiapas. Making good progress we were soon back into the swing of things. We stopped in Juchitan to eat in the bus station comedor (cafe) where we caused a stir being the first english people ever to set foot in the place. Later on we found a tranquil field to camp in near Zanatepec, right on the isthmus of Mexico.
